The proposed game experience we devised is an arcade inspired Beach Cleanup game, in which the player, who would have a customizable appearance, cleans up their local beach using a high-powered vacuum gun in a race against time.
Overall Goal: The goal of “Untitled Beach Cleanup Game” is to keep the amount of trash visible on the beach below a certain quota, depicted on the Heads-Up Display (HUD) at the top of the screen. During the game, a clock ticks down from 60 seconds. If the clock reaches zero and there is too much trash on the beach, (the trash exceeds the displayed quota), the game ends and the player can view their final score. If the player has kept the trash amount below or equal to the limit, the clock resets, the player earns a bonus score, and the difficulty increases. This cycle repeats itself indefinitely until the player has too much trash on the beach when the timer hits zero. So, the overall goal of “Untitled Beach Cleanup Game” is to play for as long as possible.
Trash Spawning: Trash will be washed up onto the shore by the waves, or dropped by Seagulls passing overhead, (more on those guys up next), forcing the player to run down to the waves to suck up trash.
The Bugs and the Birds: While our game is focused on the theme of beach cleanups, we want to include educational material about various Beach Wildlife common to Cape Town and the Western Cape. We specifically want to shine the spotlight on cool species, (cool to us), we believe are lesser known or serve an important role in the ecosystem of shore life.
